Chiranjika Grasby is an artist and curator living and working on Kaurna Yerta. Since graduating from Adelaide Central School of Art in 2019 with a Bachelor of Visual Art, she has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions at Nexus Arts, Urban Cow Studios, Floating Goose, Good Bank Gallery, Brunswick Street Gallery (VIC), and Gallery M. She was also recipient of a Deep Dive Residency at Post Office Projects in 2021, and Fringe resident for Nexus Arts in 2022 - resulting in a solo exhibition that was a finalist in the ‘Fringe Awards’ Visual Arts category. Her practice incorporates painting, illustration, sculpture, sound, and video, and is inspired by her experiences with cultural disconnect as a Queer mixed-race individual. Grasby’s work aims to balance personal narrative with shared experience, assessing the stereotypes of Queer and Asian identity(s) with a deeper conversation about displacement and belonging.
Recently she was the Early Career Curator and Writer in Residence for South Australian not for profit Guildhouse, and was awarded Arts SA funding for a curatorial internship at Adelaide Contemporary Experimental (ACE) Gallery.. She also co-owns Halfpace Studio, an inclusive tattoo space and residency site.
